Solar Credits

Did you know that you can give to BTEO by assigning some of  your solar credits if your electricity vendor is National Grid or Eversource? Here is an overview of how to do it:

National Grid: Donors must submit a Schedule Z or net metering application to National Grid. A copy of the “Schedule Z” form required can be found at this Eversource web page. On the Schedule Z form, indicate what percentage (1 to 100%) of future net metering credits you will donate, via transfer, to BTEO. When your solar installation produces excess energy, it will be applied on BTEO’s bill, which will show that your credits have been applied. Unfortunately, lump sum donations of existing credits cannot be transferred to BTEO. Only future credits can be donated.

Eversource: Contact BTEO about Eversource solar credit reassignment by emailing jayo@bteofalmouth.org and letting Jay know that you plan to submit a Schedule Z to Eversource. Jay will provide you with BTEO’s account number and other information needed for the Schedule Z form for Eversource.

Tax Receipt: If you would like a tax receipt for your solar donation to BTEO, please share with us the credit amounts that appear on your monthly electric bills. Sharing this information also confirms that your records match what we see on our statements and lets us acknowledge and confirm receipt of your gift.

For additional information on being a solar donor and donating net metering credits to BTEO, please contact Jay O’Connell at jayo@bteofalmouth.org.

Thank you!
