Working together, we can end homelessness in Falmouth.

Donor Advised Funds and Required Minimum Distributions

Dr. Bob MacIntireDr. Robert McIntire

“I’ve had a long-standing interest in two charitable areas: access to medical care and suitable housing. When Belonging to Each Other was started it seemed like an ideal project to provide safe housing for those in need closest to me. I started volunteering  as a driver to help the women and men in the BTEO homes to get to their jobs, medical appointments and other important errands. It was a satisfying experience since riding together in a car provides a comfortable setting for conversation and sharing.

When I heard about the plan to purchase a home for housing those in need, I wanted to be a part of that. Every year I’m required by the IRS to withdraw a percentage of my IRA retirement savings. Rather than withdrawing and paying Income tax on that money, I can gift the entire amount to a qualified charity for the full amount with no tax deducted. This seemed like an ideal way to help BTEO develop a fund to buy the Gerald Flynn House. I recommend this method of giving for anyone in my situation.”
