Falmouth, MA Belonging to Each Other (BTEO) held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Event on Monday June 8, at the Church of the Messiah, celebrating the 2025-2026 season and the volunteers who make its work possible. The Falmouth-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit provides transitional housing, meals, transportation, and support to neighbors experiencing homelessness on their path toward permanent, stable housing.

During the past season, BTEO’s more than 120 volunteers prepared and delivered 9,276 meals to emergency motel shelters in Falmouth, in addition to providing transportation, mentoring, and other essential support to residents and cold‑weather shelter guests.

Executive Director Gina Torielli and Board Chair Annie Polachi presented the Tim Valade Volunteer of the Year Awards to Anne Dattilo and Paula Donahue, both co‑leads of the Meals Packing Team and leaders of the women’s knitting group. Anne is also a member of the Grant writing team. The award honors the legacy of longtime volunteer Tim Valade, known for his dedication, kindness and service to others.

A Special Recognition Award was also presented to Annie Polachi for her many years of service as a volunteer, board member, and, most recently, board chair.  Her leadership has played a vital role in strengthening BTEO’s programs and community partnerships.

All three honorees are longtime volunteers whose commitment strengthens BTEO’s mission and impact in the Falmouth community. To learn more about volunteer opportunities at BTEO, please contact Jay O’Connell at 508-274-7158
